Rovers are Recruiting
Rovers SAR is accepting applications for new volunteer GSAR members from August 3 – 18, 2023.
In order to apply, we require the following for all applicants:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Committed to provide a minimum of 200 hours per year in volunteer service, participating in training, searches, meetings, and community events.
- Attend a general information session in the evening of Wednesday, September 6. The membership application form and information to apply for Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check will then be distributed.
- Completion of a 5K hike in the morning of Saturday September 9. Search and Rescue is often physically demanding, so a moderate to high level of fitness is definitely an asset.
- Attend face to face scheduled interviews with recruitment committee and uniformed police in the evenings of September 26 or 27, and present completion certificate of a 3-hour eLearning education program (link to be provided after September 9).
- Mandatory attendance for all-day training being held on October 14 & 15, 2023 and November 4 & 5, 2023 for selected recruits.
If you can commit to all of the above criteria and are still interested in applying to Rovers SAR, please complete the information requested here and our recruitment committee will get back to you by August 31st with further details.
*Please note that if you previously expressed interest in joining Rovers SAR, you must reapply using this forum to be considered.
*Not all applicants will be accepted even if the above requirements are met. Each year we typically only have a small number of openings to fill and will do so based on the needs at the time.
